Astro Boy! It's the old Japanese manga series and television program in Japan. First broadcast: from 1963 to 1966. Very ancient it is! The story is about the cute little robot named Astro Boy. It was created by the god of manga: Osamu Tezuka and was remade on the US in the 1980 and 2003.
Now, coming this 2009, Imagi Animation Studios will produce a computer animated 3D film based on the highly successful Japanese franchise of the same name. The project was already announced on September 2006 and it has been announced that Freddie Highmore of August Rush and The Spiderwick Chronicles will provide the voice for Astroboy.
I'm really excited about this. I can't wait to see the film on October 23, 2009. Well I didn't have the chance to watch even a single episode of the old series, but I'm sure this is going to be a big hit. I watched the teaser for the film and it's terrific! waaaa...at muling bumalik ito...sobrang bata pa ako noong una ko itong mapanood...as uhuging bata pa ako noon... ngayon ko lng nalaman na from manga pala ito.... ang totoo nyan manga fan ako...simula sa naruto, bleach, at eyeshield21... sigurado ako maganda ito.. :)

I didn't get to watch a single episode of the original series either, but if the animation will looks anything like the artwork in the posters I can't wait. Do you know if it will be released in the US?

I love Atom aka Astro Boy! I remember watching this as a kid, and seeing the remade episodes on Animax. October is too damn far to wait for this! hehe.
